DIDGIT'S COLORING BOOKS ENTERTAINED TAMAN BACAAN PELANGI'S KIDS IN FLORES
July 1, 2014

Dear Friends,

Today, my publisher, Lily & Eddy, concluded the 2,500 books that we sponsored to Taman Bacaan Pelangi's (Rainbow Reading Garden) libraries in East Indonesia.

Aunty Nila Tanzil, founder of this wonderful organization, shared her stories of the first two batches sent to several remote villages in the island of Flores, East Nusa Tenggara.

The children were elated to receive Didgit Cobbleheart's "Mencintai Laut Indonesia" (Loving Indonesian Oceans) and the accompanying sets of pencil colors from our sponsor, Cerebrofort. Their big smiles and twinkling eyes were so precious! Some of these children had not had the chance to see, let alone use, pencil colors! Thank you for this wonderful collaboration, Aunty Nila!

She also shared the story of how teachers in their libraries asked the children, who know how to read, to read out loud what were written on each books by children in Jakarta who had put time and effort to color the first page and wrote some inspirational notes. Every note read was enthusiastically met with thundering claps!

Therefore, I would like to thank every child in Jakarta who had participated in this event for making their peers in remote villages of Eastern Indonesia so happy! Hopefully, friendships and more understanding can grow from this exercise, and Indonesia can be a more peaceful nation for its diverse citizens.
