Dear Friends...
On Sunday, June 23, 2013 there was a cool event happening at the Bumi Perkemahan Ragunan, Jakarta. Its called the Olimpiade Taman Bacaan or the Olympic of Reading Gardens. Our partner, Taman Bacaan Pelangi, was invited to participate in that event. Aunty Nila Tanzil, the founder of Taman Bacaan Pelangi, was kind enough to invite Lily & Eddy, my publisher, to co-partner in the event. In the beginning, we only brought 50 books of Mencintai Laut Indonesia and 50 Cerebroforts puzzles for children who wanted to participate in Taman Bacaan Pelangis table. It turned out that by 10 am all 50 books were colored, and there were plenty more of my new friends who want to participate. So, Aunty Helen rushed there with 250 more books and puzzles, thus, by the time the event was over, close to 300 children had fun coloring the books. You see, we only had one small table there, and enthusiastic friends who stood and colored the books crowded the small table. The others did not mind sat on cardboards or even sat on the ground to color! I was so touched and excited to see their high spirits! Everyone was really happy... There is no doubt that kids love to color, share their thoughts with their friends and be rewarded for their good deeds. If your school wants to participate in this fun and educating project, please contact Aunty Helen at her hand phone: 0813 80 988 557. Be a cool and caring friend for the needy friends around Indonesia. Together we can help more Indonesian children to have access to nice books. Truly Yours, Didgit |
